Via Points lost using 'Change Route Activity' [Bug 64]

Unread post by ConiKost »

If you plan a simple A->B route, add a via point and then change route activity, the added via point will be lost.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open Main menu -> Where To?
2) Choose some destination (It does not matter which one)
3) Start navigation
4) Open Where To? and choose 'Set Via Point'
5) Choose again some different destination.
6) Up to here, it works fine. That means, the choosen via point is added as the first stop and the original destination is being kept as last stop.

If you now go to again 'Where To?' and choose 'Change Route Activity' and choose a different option, the previously added via point is being lost and only the original destination is being kept after recalculation.

Using Firmware 8.50.

Hi.
The same is observed (on 66st) for routes, say there is a route from A -> B -> C.
Select FIND -> Routes -> ... -> routing activity -> for example Automotive routing -> fastest time.
Woks fine, all points along the route are considered.

Then select change routing activity and select for example Automotive routing -> Shortest distance.
Note that the routing occurs directly to point C. omitting B.

I think the firmware works the same on various units. I also find this issue when changing routing strange but have learned to always start a new routing in case i want to change the activity for the routing.

Yes, but, unfortunately, Bug 66 was also created when this one was resolved...

Hm, what do you mean by leg? I don't understand that term here for the GPS.

Create a simple route by selecting a nearby waypoint and beginning 'Direct' navigation to it.

The Map page displays a single magenta route line from your current position to the destination. This is currently the only 'leg' of the route.

Now select another waypoint and add as a 'Via Point' to the current route.

The Map page now displays again only a single magenta route line, but now it is from the 'Via Point' to the 'Final Destination', and even though the 'Via Point' is the current 'Next Destination'. The route now has two legs, but only the second 'leg' is displayed on the Map page.

Continue selecting additional waypoints and adding them as 'Via Points' to the current route.

The Map page will continue to add the additional 'legs' each time, but never is the first 'leg' of the route displayed.

So If I understand you correctly, you mean basically with leg the route between two via points and the one from first start to first via point is missing.
At least, in my first test, I haven't observed this. Started a route to choosen destination, added two via points and the whole route is being shown, from start to end, and in between both added via points.

I may then have to perform yet another Master Reset on my Montana 7x0 and start over from the beginning again. This gets really old, and only reveal's the incompetency of Garmin software engineers...

Can you still reproduce this? I am not able to replicate.
