As you can see, at zoom=8mi and up the British Virgin islands are greyed out. At lesser zooms (12 mi, 20 mi, etc.) there is no problem. I can post at one of those zooms as well, if that helps.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

Please do so we can see the differance.

Also, disable all other maps, including any Custom Maps.

Please also see the GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66 > Software > PC Software > JaVaWa GPS Tools for a link to the JaVaWa Device Manager.

Install and run this program with your GPSMAP 66 connected via USB and select 'Manage Maps' > Select the gmapbmap.img file > and post a screen capture (CTRL-ALT-Print Screen) showing detailed information for the basemap on your GPSMAP 66.

As one can see, no greyed out areas at this zoom level.

That was perfect - exactly what I needed to see. All that information matches mine exactly, so the map is not missing data, but could be corrupted (I doubt it though as JaVaWa did not show an error for it.

Open one of the original 'Profiles' on your GPSMAP 66 that were present when you received it (preferably one you have not edited). Disable all but base map, and check again with that profile and let us know what happens.

Did that. It all works fine. Unbelievable.

Now how do I proceed, as I don't like to use any of the unedited profiles? (I like the hiking one, which I edited).

Thanks so much!

You are going to have to look through all the settings for each profile to determine what is different about the one that works.

I suspect a map setting is different somewhere, or you have a map enabled in one profile and not the other that is interfering.

Please let us know what you find!

The problem appears to be adding Topo US and Canada v. 2.00 to the base map. Then the greyed-out zone appears again, regardless of the profile selection. I even did a complete factory reset. No luck.
