The inept idiot I talked to at Garmin didn't what he was talking about, plus he was ina hurry to leave, I was able to clean up the route and log, he wanted top replace the unit because I could not clear the device, moron...
Unfortunately, calling Garmin tech support is often like pulling the big arm on a Las Vegas slot machine....

I don't know why they are always so quick to offer replacement units for issues that are not clearly hardware related. They must have a call quota.

Nope, performed a search and nothing...

Is your zumo assigned a drive letter when you connect it to your PC? Which drive letter?

Yeah really... I have been doing testing and I have been able to consistently clear the contents of routes and waypoints on the device to start clean... I have also not seen the double waypoints anymore... I think they come from the "Favorites" on the device, looks like every time you send routes to it it creates favorites of all the waypoints and current location. Last time I sent a route I was going to just manually delete them all if I saw the duplicates, but it looks it was not happening...

Not going to send the unit back, like you said, I don't think the device is broken, this is just the way it works, which its really terrible, I gave the guy an earful that BC needs to match the devices, symbol wise, think it went in one ear and out the other, that guy should be fired... The two products are Garmin and they need to match, BC has been around for years and LOTS and LOTS of people are asking for this, just do a search on google and you'll see.

Don't understand how difficult it is to just have a folder where you can copy symbols and have them displayed, if they don't want to use the internal memory, let the user use an SD card...

One of the things I want to test is if I edit the .gpx file and name the <sym>XXXX<sym> to a known name wonder if it will force the device to display it if its in the firmware somewhere... Then again, BC IS sending the .gpx file with the right names, the device is just ignoring it and using the Red or Blue flags instead...

Just got a new map update... Looks like every time I update the map the available space on the Internal Storage gets smaller and smaller, could it be keeping the previous map versions as does BC? If so can I delete the older ones?

No, the Map data is increasing, thus less free space. That's what a map update is. Almost always more data.

You never answered my previous question: Is your zumo assigned a drive letter when you connect to your PC?

When I go into BC after MAP update, it looks like its trying to install it, even though Express supposedly already did, when the green line reaches the end it turns red and does not show it below Internal Storage, maybe its running out of space?

Oops, sorry didn't see your question, no the zummo is not being assigned a drive letter, but I do see it in Windows, should not make a difference though, even BC sees it...

You know how 'assumptions' work, right?

To see hidden folders and files on Zumo 595:

Zumo 59x - Enable USB Mass Storage Mode

• The zumo 59x uses MTP mode connection by default.
• MTP mode hides the .system folder.
• Follow the steps below to change the zumo 59x interface to mass storage mode.
• This will allow access to the system folder.

1. Touch Volume.
2. Touch and hold the upper right corner of the screen.
3. Touch Configuration and Settings.
4. Touch MTP Settings (you may need to scroll down).
5. Touch Mass Storage.
6. Touch Save.

Connect the zumo 59x to the computer and open the .system folder on the device.

You may have to revert to MTP for Garmin Express to again see the device for future updates.

As far as the MAP I told you about previously, it seems like when I updated this morning it created a duplicate, and that is the error on BC, but the device seems ok...

I do not see any duplicated maps in that list....

Why do you think it duplicated a map?
