Had to dig this one out of mothballs, dust it off, install some fresh batteries and test it again.... The 'About Page' does not show the current GPS Chipset version, nor does the test page that is displayed when holding the 'Enter' + 'Power' buttons when booting the device from a powered off state. ...

Thank you for the excellent information.

I wish you could repeat the same tests but with battery save enabled (turns display off completely when backlight times out). I think the results would be noticeably better!

I suspect that is related to how the elevation data is stored for that map, and only the map creator can answer that question for you.

That BMP is 8-bit. It needs to be 24-bit for waypoint symbols. (8-bit are for POI symbols) Also, the transparent color needs to be Magenta (255, 0, 255). Your BMP is using (191, 0, 189), which will NOT be transparent. Yes, you may also need to copy and rename as 'Flag, Blue.bmp' to replace the blue ...
