DeLorme Unveils Unique Cache Register Widget for Streamlined Geocaching with PN-Series GPS Devices

Imports Pocket Queries from Geocaching.com, Uploads User Logs; for PC or Mac

YARMOUTH, ME — June 24, 2009 — DeLorme, the innovation leader in mapping and GPS technology, today announced the introduction of Cache Register, an exciting new feature for geocachers using Earthmate PN-Series handheld GPS receivers.

Cache Register is a desktop widget (PC and Mac) that enables PN-Series users to quickly synchronize Pocket Query search results from Geocaching.com directly to their receivers.

A pocket query is a Geocaching.com feature that enables the site’s Premium members to import up to 500 caches at a time.

Caches on Geocaching.com include a variety of details such as Name, Owner, Type, Descriptions (short or long) Hint, Container, Difficulty, Terrain, and other cachers Logs. With Cache Register, it’s easy to manage which Details you want to receive, and in what order. With the latest firmware updates, PN-Receivers now have a virtually unlimited character count available for the imported cache information.

A Geocaching.com Premium membership is required to take advantage of Cache Register.

Cache Register can also be employed to import GPX files created at Waymarking.com or exported from other applications like the Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK) and the Benchmarking Tool for Geocachers (NGSGPS).

Cache Register can be ordered online direct from DeLorme, for just $9.95.

DeLorme Commitment to Geocaching

Cache Register, which was developed in close partnership with Geocaching.com, is just the latest advance for geocachers with PN-Series receivers.

“DeLorme has enthusiastically embraced the geocaching community,” said company vice president Caleb Mason. “Geocachers are among the most knowledgeable handheld GPS users, and they’ve been instrumental in our ongoing sales growth. DeLorme participates in geocaching.com online forums, we eagerly seek out ideas and suggestions from avid geocachers, and as a result, we’ve frequently tailored our product features and improvements to meet the needs of this fun family activity that gets kids and adults outside together with their GPS units.”

“We’ve enjoyed tremendous help and cooperation from the team at Geocaching.com,” continued Mason. “They put enormous effort into making Cache Register work flawlessly.”

Most recently, DeLorme and Geocaching.com collaborated on a direct Send-to-GPS capability for PN-Series receivers, for individual geocaches (not supported by Cache Register).
