Check Firmware Version

Power on the Alpha 100. Open 'Setup > About'. The device software versions are displayed along with additional e-label regulatory information.

Firmware Installation

Garmin Express Device updates for your Alpha 100 are managed with the Garmin Express computer application. Connect the Alpha 100 to your computer using a suitable USB cable. Open the Garmin Express application and choose your device from the menu. Select desired updates and follow the prompts as directed to complete installation.

Manual Updates

Download and extract the desired *.GCD firmware update. Rename *.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD. Connect the Alpha 100 to your computer and enter Mass Storage Mode. Copy GUPDATE.GCD to [GPSr]\Garmin\GUPDATE.GCD. Disconnect and reboot the Alpha 100. When prompted to install the new firmware version, select 'Yes'. The Alpha 100 will restart automatically after the firmware update is complete.
