TV1.) Is the Colorado 3D View a static "snapshot" view or is it dynamic?
It is a dynamic view that moves and changes as you do.
TV2.) What is visible on the 3D View?
Only your current position, the pink "goto" line and your current destination are visible. Obviously the map detail is visible as well (ie. roads). POI's, user waypoints, geocaches are not visible in the 3D View.
TV3.) When I try to use this feature I see message that tells me my maps do not have sufficient elevation information to use 3D View. What maps do I need in order to use 3D View?
The Colorado basemaps (300, 400t) include DEM but the DEM is not high enough resolution to support 3D View. The DEM in the following maps is known to support 3D View and enables the Colorado to show relief shading on the map page:
The following maps do not have DEM which will work in 3D View:
- Topo US v3
-
Topo Canada (CD)
TV4.) Can you move or pan in the 3D View? How?

- Up arrow: Move forward relative to your current position
-
Down arrow: Move backward relative to your current position
-
Right arrow: Rotate clockwise
-
Left arrow: Rotate counter clockwise
-
