Check Firmware Version

• Power on the Monterra GPSr
• Select [Settings > System > About Monterra]
• Software version is displayed as x.xx_z.zz.zz:
  • x.xx is the current firmware version
    • Firmware versions ending in 1-9 are Beta releases
    • Firmware version ending in "0" are Full releases
  • z.zz.zz is the current GOA version

System Update

Monterra firmware updates are installed directly on the device with an active internet connection present.

• Power on the Monterra GPSr
• Enable Wi-Fi and verify an active internet connection is available
• Select [Settings > System > About Monterra > System updates]
• Monterra queries Garmin servers for available updates
• Follow prompts to download and install any available updates

Garmin Express

Use Garmin Express to check for additional software updates.

• Connect your Monterra via USB
• Run Garmin Express and select your device from the drop down menu
• Any available updates will be displayed
• Select desired updates and follow the prompts to complete installation

APK Updates

The GOA (Garmin Outdoor Application), also referred to as Monterra Outdoor Software, can be manually installed using available APK archives.

APK Update Procedure

• Install Sd Card APK Installer to Monterra if not already present
• Select GOA link in Update History to download desired APK version
• Unzip the downloaded archive and extract the APK file
• Connect the Monterra to your computer
• Disable screen lock if enabled
• Create a [Monterra]\Internal Storage\APK\ directory if not already present
• Copy the MonterraOutdoorSoftware_xxx.apk file to [Monterra]\Internal Storage\APK\ directory
• Install the desired MonterraOutdoorSoftware_xxx.apk using the Sd Card Apk Installer application
• After the update is completed, the GOA will automatically restart
• Check GOA version to verify successful installation

GPS Chipset Software

GPS Chipset Update Procedure

• Download the desired chipset firmware from the list below
• Create a [Monterra]\Internal Storage\.System\RemoteSW\ directory if not already present
• Copy the chipset firmware *.gcd file to the [Monterra]\Internal Storage\.System\RemoteSW\ directory
• Restart the Monterra GPSr
• Select [Settings > About Monterra > System updates > Check now]
• Install available updates
• Check the GPS Firmware Version
