Geocaching With Photos
Why Photos?
Having trouble locating an elusive cache? Forget the puzzle photo on the printer again? Not willing to log a DNF? Wish you had just one more clue? Garmin brings game changing functionality to your geocaching experience. The Montana can automatically receive geocache photos alongside your geocaches when syncing with OpenCaching.com. These photos will then be available for review on your Montana while searching for geocaches in the field.

Photo Options
While most geocaches can be found with little more than a set of coordinates, some of the more challenging geocaches may require visual aids to help you log a find. Regardless, if you are needing important photos to solve a puzzle, looking for spoiler photos to help narrow your search, or just wanting to see area photos from past visitors, you can load only the photos you desire to your Garmin Montana GPSr.
Automatic Download
- Sending geocache photos from OpenCaching.com to your Montana could not be easier. Once you have selected the geocaches you want to send, hover over 'Download' and then click on the menu button beside '...directly to GPS':
- From the drop down menu you can choose between these options:
-
with all photos > sends all photos
-
With spoiler & required photos > sends only spoiler photos and images the cache owner deems necessary
-
with required photos > sends only images the cache owner deems necessary
-
with no photos > sends no photos
Manual Download
- Sending geocache photos from other sources to your Montana is a little more time consuming, but worth the extra trouble.
-
After you have collected the images (JPEG only) you want to use, copy them to your Montana as directed:
