Oregon 700 utterly frozen at startup

Freezes on the splash screen.
I can't get it to be "found" by my computer when I connect with the garmin lead.
Can't get it to enter mass storage mode.
Any suggestions?

Which firmware do you have running?
After having had massive boot problems three years ago, my unit works properly. (Fingers crossed...) But I heard about a lot of cases with 5.20 (and probably activated geocache proximity alarms). 5.30 should have fixed that...

Very interesting. I had only just turned on activated proximity alarms. They'd worked two or three times. But it froze after I changed batteries. How can we get confirmation that this is now fixed?
