As I said, my view is that there's definitely value in this "extension" to navigating a standard track (which is the way I see it).
Obviously how much value likely depends on individual use-cases, I think most notable would be for cycle touring / long distance racing etc (you probably wouldn't be running with a handheld, whereas hiking and other slower paced activities you have the time and opportunity to refer to the device often without prompts - indeed for hiking I'd go so far as in some cases I'd actually prefer this). Different people value different features/methods. It would be nice to have as an option at least. Sadly we do not.
