Distance to next waypoint

Hi
on my etrex SE the distance to next field only shows distance to the start and then the finish of the route. I am using routes either created or adjusted in basecamp, I have made all the routepoints "alert on arrival". Ideally I would like to see the distance to the next waypoint (or route point). I am a bit of an etrex newbie so maybe something obvious I am missing?
