Go onto Garmin Support Center, select GPSMAP 67 then go to the bottom of the page and press chat and go from there.

Unfortunately I now also have 6.60 on it because it downloaded it automatically. and I have confirmed it to install and can confirm this error. I have now asked Garmin when a new update will be released, as the last one came out in September and nothing has happened since then.

Interestingly, the track from last Sunday (FW 4.70), which was still correct in the old version, was also released. now also given with incorrect altitude meters, although they were still correct at 4.70. the old tracklogs from the 65s were not changed with the FW 6.60.

I compare the altitude using the topographic map of Switzerland, and I also get values that are too high, especially descent values, even though I only went up.

With the 65s it was possible to patch the FW using a program so that you could create JNX yourself, where you could also adjust the version number of the FW and thus create an “update” yourself. Unfortunately, this no longer works here and downgrades cannot be made.

I had this issue when my new 67 came from Garmin earlier this week, it came on firmware 4.7 I wanted to keep it on that to see if the issue was there on that firmware, but the bloody device decided to update to 6.60 when I registered it on Express even though I made sure not to click the software 6.60 to update. I just updated the topo maps but it decided to do it all.

If you could open a ticket with Garmin support that would be great as like I said above the more of us that complain the more likely/quicker they will sort the issue.

Is there a way to delete these incorrect values? without removing the tracklogs, it seems as if there is an additional file and somehow altitude changes were entered twice. The incorrect measured values will probably be corrected again as soon as a new update fixes this error.

Garmin UK, opened a support ticket with Garmin Tech, i had to submit my routes off Garmin Connect showing the difference of the problem between my 67 and Epix Gen2 Sapphire. The first person I spoke to tried to say it was user error, the second person I had to again show the Routes showing the issue on Connect and then they offered to exchange my device for a brand new 67 which I wasn't going to turn down!

Then the last person I spoke to seemed interested and took all the details and opened a support ticket with Garmin Tech to sort the issue. I'm not holding my breath though. It just seems it depends what person you get on the support chat, some just seem keen to fob you off as fast as they can others are keen to help.

I doubt that a software update will fix the already recorded values. If you want to correct them now you have some options: have Garmin Connect correct the elevation based on map data (needs synchronizing your activities with Connect) or manually edit the recorded activity files in Basecamp to recalculate the summary data by removing one of the recorded track points.

It almost looks like the issue seems to be that the Total Ascent as calculated by the GPSMAP and stored in the activity summary data does not match the ascent that can be calculated from the elevation in each recorded track point.
