I recently updated the map in my Garmin Drive 52 via Garmin Express. After that device was updated, I saw an option for downloading the same map to BaseCamp and so I did just that. There it is in BaseCamp, a checked and unlocked City Navigator map. But Map Install doesn't recognize it as a map I can install to another device from BaseCamp. Is that deliberate so as not to allow a recent version of CN to be freely distributed among any number of my devices? Did I just answer my own question, lol?

I think garmin has it that way so that it will be easier to create a route and other stuff on the computer when both the computer and your GPS have the same version of the map.

If the maps are different, the route may be wrong when it is sent over to the GPS???
