That's why most people don't buy maps preloaded on a micro-SD card! (unless it work for their intended purpose)

This would be true for any map data you have loaded. Again, why most of use prefer the old CD-ROM version of the maps, which allowed us to load the areas we need to our device (via BaseCamp) as we desire.

The only remaining option is the digital download, which of course also locks the map to the device it is purchased for. I believe you can load this map to an installed micro-SD card of your choosing, however the map will not load if the micro-SD card is installed in another GPSr.

One reason for the larger memory card size is the Birdseye photos, which can take up a lot of memory. The 24k Topo can take up a lot of memory as well.
