I recently bought a Garmin Speed Sensor 2 and while it works quite well in combination with my 65s, I am very sad that the readings are not saved in the GPX file, unlike the heart rate and cadence values. Am I doing something wrong or has Garmin really forgotten to implement the function in the GPSMAP series devices?

Firmware version of GPSMAP 65s?

Are you certain the sensor was connected during the ride?

Was the 65s displaying speed readings in the data fields?

Can you share the full GPX privately?

Bug 19 added to GPSrChive > GPSMAP 65 > Common Issues page, and Garmin have been notified.

Please also report the issue to Garmin as outlined there.

The device sadly also fails to update the 'Trip Odometer', 'Speed - Moving Avg.', 'Speed - Overall Avg.' as well as 'Speed - Maximum' according to the sensor readings:

PS: And for the curious, this also applies to both the GPSMAP 64s and the GPSMAP 66sr.

I have too a similar problem with the cadence and speed sensor. I reported it, but got no response.
Have you solved?

The GPSMAP 65 has not had any firmware updates since these issues were reported. The most recent update was 18 months ago in December of 2021!
