Hi!
First release of firmware 5.50 GCD file is identical in size to firmware version 5.40 GCD (to the byte - 16,5 MB (17 323 128 bytes). After 'updating' to version 5.50, either manually or via Garmin Express, both the Oregon 6x0 and Garmin Express continue to report current firmware version as 5.40 with no updates available.

However with WebUpdater I downloaded GUPDATE.GCD file,which is different 16,5 MB (17 324 920 bytes). After updating Oregon 600 the unit reports current firmware version as 5.50 .

That information was available here on the Firmware page moments after firmware version 5.50 was prematurely released.

The issue has been resolved and all traditional methods of updating your Oregon 6x0 GPSr should be successful now.
