Battery charging via USB

Does the battery charge via the USB in all 3 states of the device ? (ie Off, USB mode, or normal GPS mode)
I’m not sure when it’s in USB mass storage mode because you can’t see anything other than the USB logo.
From experience, I suspect that it is.
For powered off, and powered by a non-data USB supply, so long as charge current is available form the port, yes.
It just doesn’t know when to stop charging.
