I have been using Garmin GPSr for nearly 20 years, own more than 100 of them, and never ever have I seen a GPX file 'timeout'. Nor have I heard anyone other than you suggest they do. My suggestion to look elsewhere was to stop looking for a timeout reason to solve your issue. That is not it. Something else was happening to delete that information. May have been an SQL issue, I dont know. But it certainly never was a 'timeout' issue.
