Montana 7x0 Compass Test Request

Unread post by GPSrChive »

For those so inclined, could you please simply ensure your Magnetic Compass is enabled in Setup > Heading > Compass = Auto, then open the Compass page and while holding the Montana 7x0 horizontally (display facing upward):

1. Rotate the Montana 7x0 360° while standing still in the same location and observing the Compass behavior.
2. Then walk in a straight line while rotating the Montana 7x0 360° and observing the Compass behavior.

Does the Compass Ring rotate as expected to keep "N" facing North in both scenarios?

What is your Montana 7x0 Model (700, 700i, 750i) and Firmware version?

I tried this out a few minutes ago.

While outside walking in a straight line rotating the unit horizontally 360 I did have the compass freeze up a couple of times.

If I continued walking it would "catch up" and then behave normally.

I calibrated my compass and tried again with the same results.

My Unit is a 700i, Software version 5.30.
