cant register device for geocaching - No activation code generated

I wonder if anyone can help me . I'm a newbie to Geocaching but not to GPS. I have just purchased a new Mapp66s and want to register it with geocaching.com for live geocaching. I have connected to both wi-fi and bluetooth without any problems and have set up an account via the geocaching website. The problem is i cannot pair the GPS with the site. When i go to set up on my device to register it no activation code is generated and text comes up saying the registration has failed. Tried several times without success

Which firmware version is loaded to the GPSMAP 66? Current version is 4.20. If lower, update and try again.

On occasion, geocaching servers undergo maintenance that can result in similar delays to registration.

If the updated firmware still results in a failure, let us know, but try again tomorrow and the next day.

UPDATE: This may be related to Garmin servers currently being offline, with no known expected time for services to resume. Some websites are reporting a potential ransomware attack is to blame....

I have the latest firmware. I wasn't aware of the Garmin outage when tried registering so i am guessing its related . I will have to wait and see once its running normally.

rude of me not to reply but yes the outage was the problem and everything was fine once restored
