EPO expired [Bug 71]

If epo is expired, there are 2 options for update

1) Smartphone with Garmin Connect Mobile App
2) WIFI

Using Wifi with 60/14 Mbps there is no update even after 10 minutes

Using App with sync, there is also no update

Any ideas (using 3,40/2,70)

The EPO file does update regularly and automatically without user input other than making sure your GPSMAP 66 has an active internet connection via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or connected to your PC with Garmin Express running.

With the GPSMAP 66 connected in mass storage mode, you can navigate to the Garmin/GPS directory and check the date for the EPO.BIN file. That date is the last time EPO data was updated on your GPSr.

Similar information is also available from GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66 > Operation > Connected Features > EPO Downloads

Hope you will get the proper info about EPO data

I've occasionally have this issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling Garmin Express always fixes it.

Alternatively, you can download the EPO.bin file from here and put it in the Garmin\GPS folder. The EPO data will update after a reboot.

Of course there would be some workaround, but turn on wifi at home would be the easiest way - which wont work
I can live without epo, but for me it is a bug.

Reinstalling garmin express is also an option, but that also should be fixed.

g66, how are you determining the EPO is not being updated?

Can you post an image of the 'About' screen showing current EPO status?

Tested and verified, Bug 71 has been added to Common Issue page.

Thanks. I had noticed that my EPO was expired also and that it only updated when I connected to Express. I did not know it was supposed to update over wifi also but I know now it did not because I am connected to wifi often and it was still expired. Because I can go quite a while sometimes without connecting to Express, my EPO is usually expired. I did not notice any adverse effect from this though and acquiring satellites generally does take seconds rather than the minutes Garmin says it will take with an expired EPO. In any case, g66, thanks for noticing the bug!
