One disadvantage of the GPSMAP comparing with an touch screen model like the Oregon is entering text/numbers.
Therefore I suggest to improve entering text using not used buttons:
1) When entering figures (like coordinates), [+][-][MARK] are not used.
Why not use +/- to incrrement/decrement the current number? Use [MARK] to finish entering text/numbers?
Or use [+][-] to move forward/backward
2) When entering text (like a waypoint name) [+][-] both are used to switch between keyboard layouts. [MARK] is not used.
Why not used [MARK] to finish entering text/numbers and [+] to move foreward?
With that you can save button clicks and you are faster entering text/numbers.
If someone does not like such advanced button-functions, let them activate in the settings as „advanced character entry“.
Suggestion: Improve entering text/figures

That's an interesting idea. Can I take it a step further. Can a smartphone with it's touchpad keyboard be used to enter text etc on the GPSMAP via Bluetooth. That would be useful in the field. At home, waypoints etc can be entered from a PC using Basecamp.

Also a nice idea.
But knowing that Garmin is not open for ideas, I just would be happy, if the optimize the existing function.
