Map browsing - previous map feature details displayed

When using the cursor on the map screen to identify a map feature, while you have a cursor button pressed, the display shows you the details for the previous map feature identified - until you release the cursor keys at which time it shows the details for the map feature identified by the current cursor position.

This is can be very confusing until you realise what is happening.

Once the cursor has moved away from a map object, the details window at the top should be blanked - or disappear altogether until the cursor buttons are released.

Reported to Garmin.

Another way of explaining this behavior might be to say that the 'Info Box' at the top of the map screen is only updated after the 'map cursor' comes to rest over any given map detail.

Constantly updating the Info Box information for every pixel the map cursor moves would be an unnecessary use of resources that provides no real advantage. When the user wants to see information for map data under the cursor, all they need to do is release the D-PAD and press Menu > Review point, etc...

Just another POV.

I agree that it shouldn't be constantly updating as the cursor is moving, but it is confusing to have it display something that may be nowhere near the cursor. My view is that the information box should not even appear until the cursor keys are released.
