Expedition Mode Bug #56 satellite connection shut down

I usually use my 66st with GNSS set to GPS + GALILEO and WAAS/EGNOS SBAS enabled (currently using device firmware 3.40/GPS firmware 2.70). As per Bug #56 seen with several previous firmware iterations, if I enable Expedition Mode with this satellite setup, when it has entered EM and I press the powe...

Re: GPSMAP 66 Firmware 3.40

United Kingdom has just updated to 3.40. Changes made from version 3.10 to 3.40: Fixed issue where spot soundings were permanently disabled Fixed possible issue on the map where we would list use instead of go Fixed potential issue where route activity was not saved after changing profiles Fixed pot...

Re: GPSMAP 66 GPS Software 2.70

Yes I am running with 3.10 / 2.70 and am happy with everything else using this firmware combination. I sent the video to Garmin UK on 17th July. I also had the problem with 3.10/2.60 so I would suggest you stay with 2.70. If EM is working okay for you, it will probably keep working okay. Let us know...

Re: GPSMAP 66 GPS Software 2.70

I have updated to chip Firmware 2.70 and after testing several times, it has not fixed the problem with EM turning off the satellite reception as soon as EM is resumed. I sent Garmin UK a video showing exactly what happens and they agree it is a software problem, but unfortunately 2.70 doesn’t fix i...

Re: Total ascent way too low (by 20% - 30%)

@gpsrchive Trackan needs the file in OziExplorer .plt format, so you will have to convert it using GPSBabel or similar. @steerage250 The explanation for the difference between the 66st and the Trackan figures is straight forward - see the earlier thread entitled "Total Ascent Figures". Essentially G...

Re: Elevation Spikes in Expedition Mode

The original large spikes issue I reported with Expedition mode was fixed in firmware 3.0 and has stayed fixed in 3.10. However I still have the issue that once EM is enabled, the satellite connection is completely lost on resuming to normal mode, requiring a power off and back on to engage the sate...

Re: Max cardsize for uSD 32/64/128 ?

Here is a (lengthy) post from the Garmin forum demonstrating that a 128Gb card works in a GPSmap 64 https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software/f/basecamp-windows/139573/base-camp-survival-guide-and-how-to-do-128gb-of-maps/772418#772418 , so it should work in a 66 too. The author lo...

That’s interesting - were you using the Auto recording option to capture your track?
