you can just use the Garmin/GPX/Current/Current.gpx file, which is the same tracklog recording the GPSr is going to save as your activity when directed to do so. This way, you do not have to eject, reboot, save, and reconnect to accomplish the same result.
thanks !

Re: When does auto archive of tracks happen?

I am interested in the final answer as well - I see the auto-archives from time-to-time. My solution is to end and save the activity, then connect it to Basecamp to retrieve the track. Unfortunately, I almost NEVER remember to do stop & save the activity before connecting it to the PC - then I reali...

Re: Gpsmap 66st Compass calibration failed Please try again

I just tried a few times and it failed on step 3 the first 2 times, but succeeded on the 3rd. I suspect the key to success is to keep the centre of the unit (its centre of gravity) in the same spot while you do each rotation.

Re: Total ascent way too low (by 20% - 30%)

When you upload the GPX track to a track analyser such as Trakan, it is recalculating the data based on the recorded track points and ignores the summary statistics. In your Trackan screen shot, you have the vertical filter set to 15m. If I'm not mistaken, this setting further filters the data from...

How did you get that software to analyze a Garmin GPX file?
I import the GPX into OziExplorer, then export a .PLT file

Re: Total ascent way too low (by 20% - 30%)

During the above walk, I did notice the altimeter readings were a bit "funny", but with limited observation time, hadn't come-up with a theory. Since the end of the walk was all uphill, I was entertaining my wife with the "vertical distance to destination" figure, and noticed that after walking down...

Re: Total ascent way too low (by 20% - 30%)

So, this information might be interesting - or just totally confuse the picture by adding "noise". I had seen the title of this thread in the forum, but had not read it so had no idea what the issue was. My wife and I were out on a bush walk (I know - no fast descents etc), and I thought I would pay...

Re: cannot edit routes downloaded from Basecamp

While changing the route type to Direct before downloading is a good work-around, the whole issue is a real pain when you forget to do so and you're deep in the bush before you realise. I don't think it is satisfactory, and have reported it to Garmin as a bug in either BaseCamp and/or the GPSr.
