Photos
Geotagged photos are photos that include geographic location data. You can view geotagged photos in BaseCamp, and you can upload geotagged photos to Picasa™ Web Albums.
Geotagging Photos
- Add location information to your photos using BaseCamp
Geotag via Import
- You can add geographical location information to photos by importing the photos.

Geotagged photos will appear on the map and in the Library and Devices area.

Center the map on the location to which you want to geotag the photos.

Click File > Import.

Browse to the photos you want to import.

Select the photos, and click Open.
-
BaseCamp asks if you want to geotag the photos to the center of the map.

Click Yes.

Edit each photos coordinates as desired
Geotag via Drag-n-Drop
- You can add geographical location information to photos by dragging and dropping the files from your computer into the BaseCamp application window.

Geotagged photos will appear on the map and in the Library and Devices area.

Resize the BaseCamp application window to a size smaller than full screen.

Select one or more photos from your desktop, Windows Explorer, or a similar file browsing application.

Drag and drop the photos onto the map in the BaseCamp application window.

BaseCamp will ask if you want to geotag the photos using the location on the map.

Click Yes.

Geotag Using Tracks
- You can add geographical location information to photos you took as you were recording a track with your GPS device.
-
BaseCamp uses the time information in your photos and in your tracks to match each photo to a specific location.

BaseCamp will add the coordinates of that location to your photos as a geotag.

Geotagged photos will appear on the map and in the Library and Devices area.

Click a track in the Library and Devices area.
NOTE: You must select a track that you recorded using your GPS device. -
Click Edit > Geotag Photos using Track.

Click Browse, and select a list that contains photos you took while recording the track. Click OK.

Click Next.
-
To create a waypoint for each photo, make sure the check box next to Create Waypoints for matched photos is selected.

If necessary, adjust the settings under Timeshift to account for time differences between the timestamps of the photos and the timestamp of the track.

Click Next.

Make sure the check box is selected next to each photo to which you want to add geographical location information.

Click Geotag Photos.

Click Finish.
Copy Photos
Drag and Drop any photo(s) within BaseCamp to the desired List, or:

Right-click a photo.

Choose Copy

Choose the target List.

Select OK.
Delete Photos
- When you delete a photo from the BaseCamp Library, the photo is deleted from all lists and from My Collection.

When you delete a photo on a connected device, the photo is removed from the device.

To remove a photo from a list without deleting the photo, see
Remove Item from List.

Option 1

Locate the data you wish to delete in My Collection or Devices.

Select the item(s) you want to delete.

Right-click and select Delete.

Option 2

Locate the data you wish to delete in My Collection or Devices.

Select the item(s) you want to delete.

Click Edit > Delete.
Import Photos
Drag and Drop any photo(s) from your computer to the desired List, or:

In the Library and Devices pane, select the location into which you want to import data (If you do not select a destination for the imported data, it is imported into the Unlisted Data folder).

Click File > Import.

Select a supported file, and click Open.
Edit Photos
- Double-click a photo in the Library and Devices area.

Change the following options as needed.

Enter a new name for the photo.

Double-click the thumbnail to open the photo in your default photo viewing software. You can then edit the photo as needed. Click to update the photo on the map.

Select a display mode for viewing the photo on the map.

Enter new coordinates in the Position field.
Share Photos
- You can share photos with online photo sharing services such as Picasa™ Web Albums.

Double-click a photo in the Library and Devices area.

Click .
-
Select a photo sharing service, and click Next.

Enter your username and password, and click Login.

Select an album, and click Upload Photos.

Click Finish.
View Photos on Device
- You can transfer or import geotagged photos into the Library and view them on the map.

If you have a device that supports geotagged photos, you can view the geotagged photos from the device.

Connect a supported Garmin device to your computer.

Click Internal Storage below the device name in the Library and Devices area.

Double-click the photo.
