Select how the course bearing appears
 
 
The red bearing pointer points towards the destination, regardless of the direction of movement.
The CDI pointer is most useful when navigating on water or where no major obstacles are in your path.



The course pointer [1] indicates the relationship to a direct course line [2] between the original starting point and the destination.
As you drift from the intended course, the Course Deviation Indicator (CDI) [4] provides the indication of drift (left or right) from the intended course.
The scale [3] indicates the full scale distance measurement for the 5 dots on either side of the CDI.

The compass should always be calibrated outdoors. The compass should be calibrated after moving long distances, after experiencing significant temperature changes, and after replacing the batteries. To improve heading accuracy, do not stand near objects that influence magnetic fields, such as cars, buildings, or overhead power lines.Each step of the calibration process must be performed exactly as shown:
