Adventures

 


An Adventure is a user created collection of tracks, routes (not yet supported), waypoints, geocaches, photos and/or videos compiled within BaseCamp. Adventures can be published online for others to view and recreate each journey. Read the Garmin Adventures press release.

Adventure Details

Each Adventure is given a name and assigned detailed information to help users quickly find an Adventure that appeals to them:


Find Adventure

  1. From the Find toolbar, select Garmin Adventures in the Find field and choose All Adventures or Featured Adventures.
  2. Select the desired option for near
    • Choose Center of view to find Adventures near the center of the map display.
    • Choose Center of selected items to find Adventures near the centroid of the items you have selected.
    • Enter a city name to find Adventures near that city.

  3. Enter a key word in the containing field (optional)
  4. Select .
  5. Select an Adventure from the results list.
  6. Select Download.


View Adventure

  1. Double-click an Adventure.
  2. Select an option to browse through the adventure.
    • Select any photo or video to view it.
    • Select to view an animated overview of the track on the map.
    • Select to toggle the name and description of the photo or video that currently appears.
    • Select to view the properties of the photo or video.
    • Select Graph to view an elevation or speed plot of the adventure track.


Create Adventure

Any data successfully imported into BaseCamp can be used to create Adventures, regardless of origin. Each Adventure is compiled around a single, primary track. Once selected, the primary track can not be changed or deleted, however supplemental tracks may be added. Watch this 'Creating Adventures' video overview.

Primary Track

  1. Select File > New > Garmin Adventure.
  2. Select a track on which to base the Adventure, and select Next.
  3. Add tracks, waypoints, geocaches, annotations, photos, and videos to the Adventure.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Complete the required fields to name and describe the Adventure.
  6. If you want to change the cover photo for the Adventure, select Change, and select a different photo.
  7. Select Finish.

Add Tracks

Drag and Drop any track(s) to the desired Adventure, or:

Add Waypoints

Drag and Drop any waypoint(s) to the desired Adventure, or:

Add Photos

Drag and Drop any photo(s) to the desired Adventure, or:
  1. Double-click an Adventure.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Select to add photos.
  4. Browse to the folder on your computer where your photos are stored, select a photo, and select Open.
  5. If necessary, select a location for the photo. (Geo-tagged photos will be automatically placed at the proper location.)
  6. To add additional photos, select a location on the map, and repeat steps 3–4.
  7. When you are finished adding photos, click in the bottom left portion of the map to edit other aspects of the adventure or to finish editing the Adventure.
  8. When you are finished editing the Adventure, select Close.

Add Geocaches

Drag and Drop any geocache(s) to the desired Adventure, or:

Add Videos

  1. Double-click an Adventure.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Select to add videos.
  4. Select a location on the map to place the video, and enter the YouTube URL of the video. BaseCamp automatically loads the name and description from the URL, but you can change the information if desired.
  5. Select Save.
  6. To add additional videos, select a location on the map, and repeat steps 3–4.
  7. When you are finished adding videos, click in the bottom left portion of the map to edit other aspects of the adventure or to finish editing the Adventure.
  8. When you are finished editing the Adventure, select Close.

Add Annotations

  1. Double-click an Adventure.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Select to add annotations.
  4. Select a location on the map to place the annotation.
  5. Enter the annotation, change the name if desired, and select Save.
  6. Repeat steps 3–4 to add more annotations.
  7. When you are finished adding annotations, click in the bottom left portion of the map to edit other aspects of the adventure or to finish editing the Adventure.
  8. When you are finished editing the Adventure, select Close.


Publish Adventure

  1. Double-click an adventure to open it.
  2. Select Publish > Next.
  3. If prompted, enter your myGarmin.com username and password.
  4. BaseCamp will publish your adventure to https://adventures.garmin.com.
  5. Select Close.


Edit Adventure

  1. Double-click an Adventure to open it.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Add tracks, waypoints, geocaches, annotations, photos, and videos to the Adventure.
  4. To remove any track (except primary track), waypoint, annotation, photo, or video from the Adventure, right-click it, and select Delete.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Change any of the fields to name and describe the Adventure.
  7. If you want to change the cover photo, select Change, and select a different photo.
  8. Select Finish.
  9. Select Update to publish your update to https://adventures.garmin.com.


Share Adventure



Archive Adventure

  1. Double-click an Adventure to open it.
  2. Choose Archive to hide the Adventure from public view.
  3. Select Unarchive to restore public access to the Adventure.


Delete Adventure
